Speaking models - CV, get to know you classmates

Let us show you some examples of the fantastic presentations students at 1st year Batxillerat are offering us this schoolyear.

We hope their presentations can give you some ideas and you find them useful when preparing your own.

We begin with Iria Rodón, from 1st Batxillerat group E, who tells us about her classmate Mariona Vadrí.

And secondly, Joan Gabás, from 1st Batxillerat D, introduces us to Marina Chicharro, one of her classmates.

We would like to thank all four students for their help and support.

Oscar Pistorious

Maybe you have read the text at page 31 in your books and learnt a lot about Oscar Pistorius' disability and his impressive achivements as an athlete.

Unfortunately, he has been on the news recently for a much more devastating event.

Mass media around the world offered information about this dramatic story and covered the trial live from Pretoria (RSA).

Even on the net it became a new entry in Wikipedia.

Although life continues, he still attracts other people's attention and every new developement is followed.

Reading stuff for all levels...

There is no shortage of material on the internet for all those interested in reading in English.
You can find magazines, newspapers, newsletters and specialised websites.

Furthermore, if you want to learn more about British/American traditions, geography, festivities and so on and at a level you can easily understand...
We suggest you should have a look at this webpage by O.U.P.

You can even submit your own contributions and comment on the articles which are, in your opinion, more significant, watch videos and learn quite a few curiosities...

All this, just a click away!!!

What is being done to change this dramatic situation?

There are different campaings working to prevent the oceans from becoming the dumpsite of tons of plastic.

Another relevant issue deals with ideas and strategies devised and/or implemented to  eliminate all the rubbish that already floats in them.

We include here some of those proposals...

How do you fit in it all?
How can you work in order to contribute to saving our oceans and their inhabitants?
Do/Can you do anything at home to help prevent all this pollution?
Which solution/s do you think is/are more practical?
Is there a campaign you believe to be more effective?

FLOWER OF SCOTLAND...

An animated explanation of some fundamental questions prior to the referendum on Scottish independence on 18th September, 2014.

Where is Scotland, what is Scotland and what does it mean to be Scottish?
And what is the history of Scotland's relationship with England?

But the real question is, will Scotland be better off as an independent country?

Now decide if the statements in the worksheet are True or False

A little explanation about economics

And now the words of an expert analyst

Now, look at this weather forecast. Prepare a list with all the words you can understand which are used to describe the weather conditions.

Finally, check this very very particular "reporter"...

A very especial weatherman
